SN RSL-I switchgears

SN RSL-I switchgear is the so-called smart switchgear.
It has been designed as an element of Smart Grid and manufactured as part of the Innotech ID 182726 programme. It was a special type of order, developed based on an agreement concluded between the National Centre for Research and Development (NCRD) and Elektromontaż-Lublin Sp. z o.o. This is mainly the achievement of authors of this very type of a switchgear, developed by the industrial and scientific consortium. It consisted of such entities as the abovementioned Elektromontaż-Lublin Sp. z o.o. as the consortium leader, plus Transformex Sp. z o.o. from Warsaw, Tele and Radio Research Institute and Lodz University of Technology. The resulting product is fascinating through its innovativeness and perfect operation.

Advantages of SN RSL-I switchgears

The basic advantages of the smart SN RSL-I switchgear include full local and remote controllability, which offers maximum comfort and safety, as well as auto-diagnostics. Another advantage is of course the affiliation with the Smart Grid and operating safety. This is a highly reliable switchgear and a model that requires minimum scope of operating activities from the personnel. The switchgear operates at the rated voltage of 17.5 kV and 24 kV.

SN RSL-I switchgears – a modern solution

So what are the novelties when it comes to the solutions applied in the SN RSL-I switchgear?
Above all, this is a brand new and revolutionary electrical power measurement system, which offers additional opportunities in every field of its operation. What does it consist in? This is a system that applies an innovative solution of hybrid current and voltage transformers with electronic elements. How can we benefit from this solution? It allows us to eliminate a measuring cell and a double number of transformers, mainly used for protection and diagnostic purposes. What is also new is the application of a smart bay controller – ISP 70, adapted to work with the Smart Grid system and an extended diagnostic mechanism related to ISP 70 modules (power quality analyser, remote diagnostics unit, criterial recorder unit and communications unit in the IEC 61850 standard). It all allows notifying the user of occurring events and measuring the temperature of busbar contacts and air humidity in the cell.

MV RSL-1,6 switchgears

A SN RSL transformer switchgear, variant 1 and 6, is a top quality product which allows uninterrupted and reliable electrical connection and operating efficiency. It is failure-free owing to traditional methods and special technological solutions applied in the manufacturing process. SN switchgears in variant 1 and 6 were manufactured with a bay width of 650 millimetres and based on direct drives. They operate in the so-called rear arrangement, also referred to as a reverse arrangement, with appropriately applied cut-off switches with earthing switches. In this aspect both variants differ from each other, as the first one includes

ABB cut-off switches of the OR type, while the sixth variant uses ZWAE cut-off switches of the OM type.

The operation of this type of a switchgear is based on inserting a special removable lever into the drive socket. This triggers the activation of the cut-off switch (activate or deactivate positions). A drive socket is located directly on the cut-off switch shaft, therefore it is convenient to control and locate. After all, a drive lever for earthing blades, necessary for proper and efficient operation of the MV switchgear of the RSL type, has a similar position. What are the benefits of such a drive? Above all, it allows minimising the width of a cell, thus it increases operating performance and convenience of using these variants of the MV switchgear. Additionally, for economic and security reasons, a mechanical interlock of cut-off switches with earthing blades has been applied. This factory-installed function prevents activation of the cut-off switch when the earthing switch is closed and closing of the earthing switch when the cut-off switch is activated.

RSL switchgear – structure

High quality technical manufacturing of the entire switchgear has been guaranteed. The sole busbar system is made of an insulated copper rod, while partitions between the cells are made of insulation plates. The MV RSL-1 and RSL-6 switchgear is not arc-proof; it is offered only in the “0” standard version. Rated voltage at which the switchgear in these variants operates is, obviously, 17.5 kV and 24 kV. We are dealing here with 3 phases at a rated frequency of 50 Hz. When it comes to the protection rating, we are dealing with IP2XD and IP4X values, therefore these are high quality products that safeguard the security of the entire system. MV switchgears of the RSL-1 and RSL-6 type offered by us meet the European standards PN-EN 62271-200:2012 and PN-EN 6227-1:2009. Additionally, the sixth variant comes with the Compliance Certificate no. 059/2014 issued by the Institute of Power Engineering in Warsaw.

MV RSL-2, 3, 5, 7 switchgears

Each switchgear should provide excellent and smooth reception of current and its effective switching. In this case, the second, third, fifth and seventh variants are based on the constant air insulation technology and welded structure. It was made of steel sheet, covered with painted coatings in a special and professional manner. They are perfectly preserved and secured against excessive wear in aesthetic terms. What is important, these MV switchgears are made with a bay width of 850 millimetres and include intermediate drives. They work in the classic front layout, straight ahead. What is therefore the difference between particular variants? It is an accurate type of applied cut-off switches, each made in accordance with the principles and applicable standards.

MV RSL-2 variant is equipped with ABB cut-off switches of the OR424PU2 type (OR424PU2/R precisely) and OR524P2A (OR424P2A/R precisely). These are quite classic cut-off switches, often found in switchgears of this type. They are valued mostly for their reliability.

The second variant, MV RSL-3 also features ABB cut-off switches, however of the NAL type. Precisely, this is the NAL 24-6A-170 LEL type (NAL 17,5-6A-170 LEL precisely) and NALF 24-6A-170 LL (NALF 17,5-6A-170 LL precisely). Although less common, they are equally reliable.

The third type, MV RSL-5 boasts KL 20/630-230-EUK cut-off switches (KL15/630-175-EUK), as well as KLF 15/630-175-SU (KLF 20/630-230-SU) of the UESA type. The last variant – MV RSL-7 – features ZWAE cut-off switches of the OM-24/UD/160 and OMB-24/BD/160 type.

Activation of the cut-off switch in these switchgears takes place through inserting a removable lever into the drive socket. It is located on the front panel (fixed strip) of the cell. After all, the drive lever of the earthing devices behaves in the same way. Additionally, cut-off switches with earthing switches feature a special factory-set interlock, which prevents cut-off switch activation at a closed earthing switch and closing the earthing switch at an activated cut-off switch. This gives you a sense of safety. Additionally, these variants (2, 3, 5 and 7) are offered in an arc-proof “1” version. What is also important is the standards met by our MV switchgears of the RSL-2, RSL-3, RSL-5 and RSL-7 type. They meet the European standards PN-EN 62271-200:2012 and PN-EN 6227-1:2009. Additionally, each of the abovementioned variants comes with a certificate no. 707 and no. 587 issued by the Institute of Power Engineering in Warsaw.
