A busbar (or current busbar, according to previous nomenclature) is an element that serves the purpose of conducting electrical current, which allows supplying power to single- and three-phase devices by means of a single line. They are usually made in a sandwich-type structure, with low impedance values. Therefore, they guarantee low power transmission losses. Busbars can be made either of aluminium or copper. Busbars are most frequently fixed to structural elements of buildings by means of steel suspensions.
